Adams in Wonderland
In his article “Picking the winners” (http://www.nzma.org.nz/journal/115-1165/235/)
medical student Brandon Adams would have us believe that a medical graduate will
enjoy a life of “financial security, community respect, a relaxed
workplace and no heavy lifting.” Graduates in New Zealand face a mountain
of student debt, an array of agencies to which complaints about them can be
made, a workplace plagued by underfunding and inadequate staffing, and having to
assist in moving increasingly obese patients. If Mr Adams would care to provide
directions to the land of milk and honey he describes, I for one would happily
set forth in search of it.
