See archived issues for previously published examples of the Medical Image feature. (Issues older than 6 months have free public access—i.e. they are not password protected.)

Text (between approximately 50 and 200 words) and 1 to 4 images should be concise, clear, interesting, and original. (Remove all patient-identifying information/data from images.)

Ensure author information (first and last names; plus middle initial[s], job titles, department (if applicable), institution, and location) is included for each author as well as contact details for the designated correspondence author (phone and fax numbers; postal and email addresses).

Label all figures with 1-2 lines of text describing what is seen, and use arrows within figures to point out special features.

Submit text within an MS Word document—with jpeg (.jpg) images (of lowest memory size possible while remaining clear) inserted within the document at the appropriate positions or sent separately as jpeg files—to www.manuscriptmanager.com/nzmj for review.

Please obtain patient consent for publication of your report on them and confirm you have obtained that consent in your cover letter which is part of the Manuscript Manager online submission.  If the patient died, then ask their next of kin.  We do not need a copy of the patient consent form.  For information see this editorial on the issue.
